Lisa Messner and Ann Martin have seen it all when it comes to financial statements of early stage companies. In this TIGER Talk, they will review the Top 10 “Ut-Ohs!” they find when reviewing Balance Sheets and Income Statements. They will walk you through what to do, steps to avoid pitfalls, and give some pro tips along the way. It may not sound like exciting stuff, but if you want to have a successful, strong financial house that doesn’t make you lose sleep at night, knowing what NOT to do is a must!
Ann Martin has more than 25 years of experience in finance, accounting and administrations. Since joining Book+Street® in April 2019, Ann has provided strategic financial services to multiple early stage companies as their contract Chief Financial Officer.
Prior to joining Book+Street®, Ann held many strategic financial roles within CitiGroup. Her diverse experience includes strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting, management reporting, financial modeling, vendor negotiations, contract administration and leading global, multi-functional team.
Ann is a Certified Public Accountant and earned a BS in Business Administration from The Ohio State University.
Lisa Messner has over 25 years of experience in finance and accounting. Lisa joined Book+Street this spring after 13 years working as a consultant for Kaiser Consulting, assisting several companies with monthly financial reporting, cash projections and financial forecasts. She also assisted clients with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and was on a long-term risk-management project for a Fortune 100 company analyzing supplier financial stability. In additional to working for Kaiser Consulting, Lisa was the Controller for NCT Ventures for 2 years.
Lisa’s career began in public accounting at KPMG as an auditor. She transitioned to industry as the Financial Reporting Manager for a company owned by the founder of NCT Ventures. From there, Lisa began helping start-up companies with financial reporting prior to working for Kaiser Consulting.
Lisa has a BS in Accounting from San Diego State University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Ohio.
