The law can seem daunting when you’re just starting a business. Whether you have concerns about entity formation, raising capital, or contract language, following legal best practices can set you up to avoid barriers you might never anticipate.

Join attorneys Ryan Steele and Kirsten Fraser of the Columbus office of Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP office as they discuss strategies for your business to achieve its goals while limiting exposure to liability. Participants in this TIGER Talk will learn the actions to take to protect business interests, meet business goals, and serve clients while protecting a business from legal risk.

Ryan Steele is a Senior Associate who helps early stage entrepreneurs choose optimal business structures and complete the documentation needed to establish their business foundation, grow and expand, and ultimately exit on their own favorable terms.

Ryan also handles corporate contractual matters to bring mergers, acquisitions, financing, startup operations, and other general business transactions to fruition. Ryan efficiently executes complex business contracts so that rapidly growing companies, business owners and early stage entrepreneurs can cost-effectively achieve their growth goals.

Ryan also brings great business savvy to his client relationships. Having managed an office of over 100 people, Ryan can apply his first-hand knowledge of everyday business functions including project management, employee management, and independent contracting, providing practical counsel to fast-growing entities so they can overcome challenges and achieve their business goals.

Kirsten Fraser is a Senior Associate who practices at the crossroads of litigation and business law. In commercial litigation matters, she has represented a wide variety of industries including healthcare, retail, insurance, telecommunications, oil and gas, and financial services. Her experience includes representing businesses in cases involving complex commercial litigation claims, business competition claims, and other general commercial litigation claims. Kirsten has also successfully negotiated resolution to business disputes in advance of litigation.

Prior to law school, Kirsten served as the senior aide to Franklin County Commissioner Mary Jo Kilroy, and on Congresswoman Kilroy’s staff in the United States House of Representatives. She is a citizen of the United States and Germany.
